Hong Kong owners
A permit in hand. Now the horse.
For Hong Kong owners who hold, or expect, a PP or PPG permit. We find rated horses in training in Europe and around the world, check them properly, and buy the one you and your trainer choose.
A Hong Kong permit is hard to win and easy to waste. A PP permit is for a horse that has already raced, and it must reach the minimum Hong Kong rating the Club sets. We send you and your trainer 3-5 suitable horses within about 10 days, with honest notes, then handle the vetting, the deal and the shipping.
Who this is for
- Permit holders who won a PP permit in this year's ballot and want a wider search than the usual phone calls.
- Reserve-list owners who have just been promoted and need a horse quickly, without buying in a panic.
- Owners applying next season who want to know what a realistic horse costs before the ballot, not after.
- PPG holders looking for an unraced horse, where the brief and the sales calendar are different. We will say so plainly.
New to the permit rules? Our guide covers them: Hong Kong PP and PPG permits explained. This page is about finding the horse.
What we do
- A shortlist of 3-5 horses, within about 10 days. Horses in training from Britain, Ireland and France first, and further afield when the right horse is there. Each comes with form, race videos, pedigree notes, an estimated Hong Kong rating and a check against the Club's current age and starts limits.
- Honest notes. What we like, what worries us, and which horse we would pick. If none of them is good enough, we say that too. A short list beats a long apology.
- Vet and X-ray review. Independent vets examine the horse, with X-rays and a wind scope, and you and your trainer get every report before any money moves.
- Negotiation. With your written authority and your maximum price, we deal with the seller in your name.
- Shipping coordination. Export papers, quarantine, insurance and the flight, with licensed specialist shippers, until the horse reaches your trainer's stable.
How it works with your Hong Kong trainer
Your trainer decides. We supply the options. In Hong Kong the trainer usually knows exactly what their stable needs: the distance, the type, the class the horse should start in. We build the search from that brief, not from our own favourites.
- We send the shortlist to you, and copy your trainer in if you wish.
- Your trainer checks the Club's import requirements and the rating request with the Club. We supply the race records and vet papers they need.
- Licensed trainers train. We find, check and buy the horse, then step back.
Timing
The Club runs its import permit ballot once a year. In the 2026 ballot it issued 120 PP and 340 PPG permits, and published the reserve lists on 4 June 2026. Owners on a reserve list can be promoted later, often at short notice.
From choosing a horse to its arrival, allow for the Club's rating and veterinary checks, pre-export quarantine abroad, the flight, and quarantine on arrival in Hong Kong. That usually takes weeks, not days. The Club sets the criteria and deadlines each season; we check the current ones with your trainer before anything is signed.
Our advice: email before you need the horse. A brief sent in spring is calm. A brief sent the week a permit arrives is still possible, just with less choice.

Fees
5% fee (min US$5,000), agreed in writing. You pay the seller directly; your money never goes through us. If we are ever paid by both sides, both are told in writing first.
Vetting, insurance, shipping, quarantine and the Club's own fees are separate, paid to those who provide them, and quoted before you commit. More detail: our fees and how we work.
What we cannot do
We cannot get you a permit, set a Hong Kong rating or promise a win. The Club decides the first two, and the horse decides the third. A horse can win, lose or get injured. We promise careful work, plain answers and no surprises in the paperwork.
Questions owners ask
Can you get me a Hong Kong import permit?
No. Only the Hong Kong Jockey Club issues PP and PPG permits, through its own ballot and rules. We help once you hold a permit, or while you prepare for one.
How do you know a horse will get the rating it needs?
We do not, and nobody can promise it. We give an estimate and our reasons. The Club assigns the Hong Kong rating, and nothing is bought until your trainer has the Club's answer.
Do you work with my Hong Kong trainer or around them?
With them, always. Your trainer decides what suits their stable. We supply the options, the vet reports and the paperwork, and copy your trainer in if you wish.
What do you charge?
5% fee (min US$5,000), agreed in writing. You pay the seller directly; your money never goes through us. If we are ever paid by both sides, both are told in writing first.
